छत्रपति शिवरायांची जंजिरेकर सिद्धी विरुद्ध मोहिम...जंजिर्याचा सिद्धि म्हणजे पाण्यातील उंदीर,सुरतेवरुन रसद आणि मदत मिळाल्यामुळे माजुर होवून स्वराज्याला उपद्रव करू लागला त्यामुळ त्याविरुध मोहिम उघडली...!!!

शिवराय किल्ले जंजिऱ्यावर चालून गेले.१६७६ मध्ये मोरोपंत पिंगळेच्या नेतृत्वाखाली १०,००० फौज देऊन महाराजांनी जंजिरा किल्ला घेण्याची मोहीम आखली.
लढाऊ नौकांनी जंजि-यावर लहान तोफांनी मारा केला, पण उपयोग झाला नाही. तेव्हा मोरोपंताने हवालदार सुभानजी मोहिते, सरनोबत सुभानजी खराडे व कारकून मल्हार नारायण सबनीस यांच्या करवी अष्टागरातील कोळीवाडीचा प्रमुख लाय पाटील व त्याच्या पद्मदुर्गावर चाकरी करणा-या काही शूर सोनकोळ्यांना पद्मदुर्गावर बोलावून जंजिरा घेण्याची मोहीम सांगितली.
शूर लाय पाटलाने ८-१० सहका-यांसह रात्री दोरखंडाच्या शिडय़ा बांधून जंजिरा तटावर प्रवेश मिळविला. हबशांना त्याचा पत्ताही लागला नाही.
मोरोपंताच्या सैन्याच्या तुकडीची लाय पाटील आणि त्याचे सहकारी पहाट फुटायच्या वेळेपर्यंत वाट पाहून थकले. सैन्य आले नाही म्हणून निराश होऊन दोराच्या शिडय़ा कापून त्यांनी माघार घेतली.
शिवरायांना ही बातमी समजली तेव्हा पालखीचा मान म्हणून एक बोट लाय पाटलास बांधून दिली व तिचे नाव पालखी असे ठेवले.
बोटीबरोबरच लाय पाटलास छत्री, निशाण, वस्त्रे व दर्याकिना-यांची सरपाटीलकी मोठय़ा सन्मानपूर्वक बहार केला.

Shivrai marched on Janjira fort.In 1676, under the leadership of Moropant Pingale, the Maharaja launched an expedition to capture Janjira fort with 10,000 troops.
The warships fired small cannons at Janji, but to no avail. Then Moropanta summoned Constable Subhanji Mohite, Sarnobat Subhanji Kharade and Clerk Malhar Narayan Sabnis and summoned Lai Patil, the head of Koliwadi in Karvi Ashtagara and some brave Sonkolas who were working on his Padma Durga.
The brave Lai Patla along with 8-10 colleagues reached the Janjira bank by tying rope ladders at night. The Abyssinians did not even know it.
Lai Patil and his comrades of the Moropanta's army were tired of waiting for dawn. Disappointed that the army had not arrived, they cut the rope and withdrew.
When Shivaraya understood this news, he tied a boat to Lai Patlas as the neck of the palanquin and named it Palkhi.
Along with the boat, Lai Patlas brought out umbrellas, flags, cloths and a seaweed with great honor.
